Scientific Accompanying Research

Not only companies but also the international professionals themselves will be surveyed by the Chair of Economic Geography in order to identify potential problems with establishing contacts and the factors influencing the intentions of staying in Thuringia. Furthermore, respondents should evaluate how welcoming the culture is in Thuringia and provide information about their own field of training and vocation. In addition, semi-standardised interviews with international experts are planned with the goal of collecting data on the motivation for taking up employment in Thuringia, difficulties experienced in accepting employment, the role of previous, present and planned ties with their country of origin as well as specific needs. The respondents will also be asked to provide a qualitative assessment of the attractiveness of the location of Thuringia.

The insights gained should enable an ongoing reflection and targeted adaptation of the measures to be implemented to improve the receptivity and capacity of companies in Thuringia to take on and commit themselves to international specialists.
